It's exciting writing poetry! Haiku poetry is originally from Japan and it is unusual because it is written to a strict syllable structure of 5 syllables (line 1), 7 syllables (line 2) and 5 syllables (final line). Our Literacy group have been reading and writing poetry. We have enjoyed this unit so much that we have found our favourite poems and have read them for you!! Our young poets are:

Friday 6th February was a very snowy day where the children in Year 1 decided to remember the beautiful snowscape outside their classroom windows by writing their own acrostic poems. The next step was to perform them for Radio Peterbrook. Enjoy!!
