A few weeks ago our pupils in Year 5 baked bread in Food Technology. They enjoyed it so much that they decided to write, for homework, funny stories involving bread, dough, breadcrumbs, crusts, etc. The outcome was amazing, with the result that several funny stories were linked together to create a crazy bread radio news bulletin!! The character of Dr. Dark became the central figure for the whole piece, and after scripting, rehearsing, recording and editing, the children decided that they would like to broadcast their 'newsflash' on Wednesday 1st April, to the whole school - 'April Fool's Day' - TODAY!! Mr. McGaw set the scene and created the 'serious' backdrop for a series of 'bread incidents' to take place!! Our audience of 400+ children sighed with relief when they realised it was just a funny game by Year 5. The broadcast is really well performed by our 10 pupil radio actors and Miss Hills!! Enjoy!!
Today saw our second School Improvement Pupil Conference for all of those pupils in our school who hold positions of responsibility ie. School Councillors, Peer Mediators and Housecaptains. After a busy day of keynote speeches, workshops, and discussion groups a 'long' list of school improvement suggestions was created. Our pupils then engaged in a 'short' listing exercise where negotiation and compromise were the main criteria for working. Our long list of over 60 suggestions was short-listed to just 10 suggestions, and after a period of presentation and delegate voting this short list became a final list of just 6 main recommendations for school improvement which will now go forward into the adult School Improvement Conference and finally onto our Full Governing Body. Listen to the views of our confident young people.

Sandwiches have never been so interesting and ..... tasty!! In Year 3 we have been studying the food industry and healthy sandwiches. Our research led us to buying lots of different sandwiches with different fillings and in different types of packaging. We tasted everything - even those sandwiches with fillings which looked revolting!!! They were all really tasty!! Having completed our Design Technology booklet on 'Designing and Making a Sandwich' it was time to make our own production line and produce our own sandwiches for eating. Our ingredients were tasty - different types of bread, spreads and fillings!! Listen to our pupils comments they really enjoyed their sandwich unit!!
