In May 2008 our pupils performed 'The Statue of the Ancient Hero' in Beijing. It was amazing because half of the musical was performed in fluent Chinese, learnt by the children over a seven month period. Listen to an amazing speech from the show!!

What a special assembly we have had this morning. Huixin showed us a really interesting Chinese traditions and customs 'powerpoint' presentation and also taught us new Chinese words to celebrate Spring Festival 2009 - 'The Year of the Ox'. She also asked two pupils to wear a super Chinese Lion head costume and distributed lucky Chinese red envelopes to the 8th child on the register of every class in Peterbrook. Did you know that in the Chinese calendar, this year is the year 4707!! For the rest of the world it is only 2009!! Wow!! Our fabulous singers finished off a wonderful assembly with their amazing Chinese New Year song, sung in Mandarin!! ENJOY!!

Exactly one year ago today our Year 6 children were sitting their final SAT's test paper in the morning before jetting off to China on an 8 day performance tour to our partner school in Beijing - AnZhen No.1 Primary School!! Today only 5 of the 12 members of the cast of 'The Statue of the Ancient Hero' are still pupils at Peterbrook - they were in Year 5 then - Demia, Charlotte, Megan, Saffron and Tyler. Listen as we recall our magical moments from the visit - the experience changed them forever. Enjoy!!

It will soon be time for Chinese Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) in January. We have been invited to sing at Solihull's Chinese New Year celebrations once again and it's time to really learn our Mandarin Chinese lyrics. Listen to our second song everyday and gradually you will learn its fabulous lyrics. It isn't easy but don't give up - you will gain confidence - good luck!!
