Peterbrook enjoys a broad and balanced curriculum and often exciting learning opportunities appear from the most unexpected places. This channel let's you enjoy podcasts from a wide variety of curriculum sources - the common theme running through them all is that each podcast has its roots in the curriculum, was enjoyable to create and, most important of all, developed the listening and speaking skills of our pupils. ENJOY!!
Sound often conveys feelings and even young children can match types of feelings with types of sound. Listen carefully as our Year 1 children explore 'bullying' and 'friendship' sounds together.
Sandwiches have never been so interesting and ..... tasty!! In Year 3 we have been studying the food industry and healthy sandwiches. Our research led us to buying lots of different sandwiches with different fillings and in different types of packaging. We tasted everything - even those sandwiches with fillings which looked revolting!!! They were all really tasty!! Having completed our Design Technology booklet on 'Designing and Making a Sandwich' it was time to make our own production line and produce our own sandwiches for eating. Our ingredients were tasty - different types of bread, spreads and fillings!! Listen to our pupils comments they really enjoyed their sandwich unit!!
Year 6 have been researching World War II as a part of their history topic: 'Britain since the 1930's'. Some of our children have interviewed the grandparents to find out what life was really like during the war.
Our children have enjoyed listening to stories with miniature world settings, like 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Gulliver's Travels'. They created their own clay characters within shoe-box environments which then inspired them to write their own miniature world stories. Year 4 children shared these wonderful creations with our Year 3 children during a special storytelling session. ENJOY!!

Music and natural sounds can help you concentrate and focus closely on your task. The function of this podcast is as an aid to learning in Art and Design Technology lessons. It helps us 'get in the zone' or as we prefer to call it in Art and Design Technology 'into the bubble'. Its learning support applications are not limited to the arts however. Use this podcast to help you focus on your homework, to help you revise for tests, to help you relax after a tiring activity - its uses are many and varied. Enjoy!

Today is something special as our Year 5 'G&T' Team present for you their first 'wacky' radio broadcast where they have fun writing, rehearsing and presenting crazy radio shows!! ENJOY!!
As a 'Healthy School' we like to take every opportunity, both within and beyond the curriculum to reinforce our message of 'Healthy Eating - Healthy Living'. Today is the turn of our Year 5 Food Technologists as they 'design and bake' their own individual breads!!Hummm!! Smell those loaves!!
It's an important day for our curriculum today as we open our new Science Investigation Centre with a celebration of Mad Science!! Our new facility is the brain-child of our science curriculum leader Mrs. Clayton and our fabulous new facility was officially opened today with science workshops led by 'Mad Science Inc.'!! Listen as young scientists Rianna Elsmore and Jack Green share the excitement!!
We are committed to raising standards at Peterbrook Primary School and one area in which we will continue to do this is in writing. 'Big Writing' was launched on Monday 19th April with a week of events including a visit from a professional Storyteller and a visit to Solihull Central Library.
In addition to daily Literacy lessons, every week we now hold a 90 minute session dedicated purely to writing in which children develop 4 main aspects of their writing - VCOP, that is, Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation. These are the four main elements of writing in which children develop their skills, in order to become independent and expert writers.
Here is the first song enjoyed by the children - it was used to reinforce the 'Big Writing' message.
